Now we have photovoltaic panels

On the green roof of La Borda we have 20 photovoltaic panels since the summer of 2020. The installation produces a quarter of all the building’s consumption. In addition to a sustainable investment that we hope to recover in less than 12 years, it is the result of inter-cooperation. Several cooperatives have helped us to make this possible: Azimut360 (installation design), Girasol (installation) and Arkenova (monitoring). Our energy was already green thanks to the fact that we are SomEnergia consumer partners, but now it is also, in part, from Km0.

La Borda nominated for the Mies 2022 awards
La Borda is nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Prize. The award is biennial and has the main purpose of recognizing and rewarding the quality of architectural production in Europe. The candidatures of the works considered for the Prize are proposed by a large group of independent experts from all over Europe, in addition to the architectural associations that are part of the European Council of Architects and other national associations of European architects.

This nomination is in addition to several awards that the project has received since its construction:
- Prize Ciutat de Barcelona 2018
- Prize in Build Work in architecture of the BBConstrumat 2019
- Prize in the 3rd edition of the Mostra d’Arquitectura Catalana de Barcelona
- Special prize in innovation at the European Responsible Housing Awards 2019
- Winner of the Premis Catalunya Construcció 2019 in the category of work execution management (Xavier Aumedes and Gemma Rius) and selected in the category of Innovation in construction
- Finalist at the Simon Architecture Prize 2020

(Virtual) visit to the building of La Borda

Due to the security limitations imposed by Covid-19 and to respect our daily lives, we are not offering tours of the building right now.

That’s why we leave you this 12-minute video that we presented during Architecture Week 2020, with the sound of the visits we offered during the OpenHouse 2019 festival, and images of the construction process and the building’s life. In the coming months we want to continue sharing material, and we are looking for the format to be able to hold virtual meetings that try to replace the meetings we had with groups interested in replicating the cooperative housing model in transfer of use.
